Simple girder cranes, also known as girder cranes, have a structural composition similar to that of ordinary bridge cranes, with small weight, span and working speed. The main beam of the bridge is a simple section beam composed of I-beam or other steel and sheet steel. The chain hoist or electric hoist is equipped with a simple trolley as the lifting trolley. The trolley generally runs on the lower flange of the I-beam. The bridge can be run along an elevated track or along a track suspended below the elevated frame. This type of crane is called a suspended beam crane.
Metallurgical special bridge cranes can participate in specific process operations in the steel production process. The basic structure is similar to that of ordinary bridge cranes, but special working mechanisms or devices are also installed on the lifting trolleys. The working characteristics of this kind of crane are frequent use, poor conditions and high working level. There are five main types.
1、Casting crane
As a kind of classification of bridge cranes, such cranes are used for injecting molten iron into a mixed iron furnace, a steelmaking furnace, and lifting molten steel into a continuous ingot apparatus or a steel ingot mold. The main trolley lifts the barrel, and the auxiliary car carries out auxiliary work such as reversing the barrel. In order to expand the use range of the auxiliary hook and better serve the steelmaking process, the main and auxiliary hooks are respectively arranged in the main body of the independent trolley running mechanism. The sub-cars are on and run along their respective tracks. Commonly used structural forms are four-beam four-track type and four-beam six-track type.
2、Clamp cranes
Use a clamp to lift the high temperature steel ingot vertically into the deep pit soaking furnace, or take it out and put it on the ingot car.
3、 Spindle off crane
It is used to forcibly release the ingot from the ingot mold. There is a special de-sizing device on the trolley. The de-sizing method depends on the shape of the ingot mold: some de-spinning cranes use the rod to press the ingot, and use the tongs to lift the ingot mold; some use the tongs to press the ingot mold. The small pliers lift the steel ingot.
4、Feeding crane
Used to add the charge to the open hearth furnace. The lower end of the main trolley has a pick rod for picking up the bin and feeding it into the furnace. The main column can be rotated around the vertical axis, and the rod can be swung up and down. The auxiliary car is used for auxiliary work such as repairing the furnace.
5、 Forging crane
Used to forge large workpieces with hydraulic presses. A special hopper is suspended on the main trolley hook to support and flip the workpiece; the secondary trolley is used to lift the workpiece.
