What Are The Crane Overload Protection Devices

During the use of the crane, the operator may be unclear about the weight of the hoisted items, causing the hoisting weight to exceed the rated lifting capacity. So an overload protection device must be installed to protect the crane to avoid serious consequences. The overload protection device of the crane includes two types: lifting weight limiter and crane torque limiter.

1. lifting weight limiter

This kind of protection device is mainly used on bridge cranes to limit the lifting weight. When the load exceeds the rated lifting weight, the crane stops lifting upwards, and can only achieve safety protection downwards.

2. Torque limiter

The torque limiter is divided into the boom luffing torque limiter and the trolley luffing torque limiter.

For mobile cranes, the boom is generally used for luffing, and the torque limiter is often used for overload protection.

The crane overload limiter can effectively prevent the crane from overloading. It is a kind of protection for the crane. The operator can not rely on these protective devices to limit the lifting weight of the crane. In the normal operation process, it is necessary to have an understanding of the lifting items and limit it to the rated lifting standard.
