Metallurgical crane classification

Specialized metallurgical overhead cranes can participate in specific process operations in the steel production process, Its basic structure is similar to ordinary overhead crane, However, the lifting trolley is also equipped with special working mechanism or device. The working characteristics of such cranes are frequent use, harsh conditions and high levels of work. There are five main types:

Casting cranes: 

For lifting molten iron into the mixing furnace, steelmaking furnace and lifting molten steel into the continuous ingot casting equipment or ingot mold. The main trolley lift ladle, auxiliary trolley flip ladle and other auxiliary work.

Clamp crane: 

Use a clamp to lift the hot ingot vertically to a deep pit soaking furnace, or remove it and place it on the ingot car.

Stripping crane:

Used to force the ingot out of the ingot mold. There is a special trolley device on the trolley. The mode of trolling depends on the shape of the mold: Some stripping crane with a bar to suppress the ingot, with tong to lift the ingot mold, Some use the tongs to suppress the ingot mold and use the small forceps to lift the ingot.

Feed cranes: 

Used to add charge to open hearth. The main trolley's lower column equipped with pick levers, used to pick up the tank and send it into the furnace. The main column can be revolved around the vertical axis, the bar can be swung up and down and rotation. Auxiliary trolley repair furnace and other auxiliary operations

Forging cranes: 

Used with hydraulic press forging large work pieces. The main trolley hook hanging special loom, to support and flip the work piece, auxiliary trolley used to lift the work piece.
